The ranking system utilised by Exodus is reminiscent of a typical Japanese hack-and-slash game, or certain anime. Those who have played the likes of Devil May Cry or Viewtiful Joe will already be familiar with the grading system, as will most people who have taken a standardised examination. You may hear it referred to as the 'S to E System', the 'SE System' or simply 'Ranks'. While this is not entirely set in stone system, with clear-cut definitions as to who can beat who, there are prerequisites for certain ranks, and some Supers may find themselves trapped at E Rank, should they be permanently unable to control their powers.
Ranking Up:
To Rank Up, a Super should try to first achieve the recommended post count:
- F Rank - Referred to by Super Supremacists as 'frankies', powerless individuals sit almost without fail at F Rank, and are almost always incapable of rising to E Rank. An F Rank is always without a power, though that does not mean that powerless individuals are restricted to F Rank. Through immense, intense physical training, or practise in a particular field, an individual may find themselves valued at E Rank simply through their own aptitude. An example of an F Rank would be a civilian office worker in New Otford.
- E Rank - E Rank is the rank at which all Supers begin. Their powers manifest as uncontrollable anomalies in their behaviour, biological or physiological activities. It would be incredibly unreasonable to expect an E Rank Super to be able to properly utilise their abilities in combat, though that does not rule out the possibility of accidental power usage. An example of an E Rank would be a Super with the ability to control electricity, generating slight sparks from their hands periodically and without intention, the power of which would likely be enough to cause minor pain and disorientation.
- D Rank - D Rank is the first rank where a Super can begin to fully utilise their power. What once was an anomaly, an uncontrollable quirk that the Super had absolutely no will over, is now an ability that the Super can call on at any time, though extended usage will exhaust them, and it is very much limited in its abilities. A Super, at this point, could feasibly use their power during combat reliably, providing they know the limitations. An example of a D Rank Super would be a Super with the ability to generate electricity producing short range shocks, capable of incapacitating, or killing those with weak hearts.
- C Rank - C Rank is the point at which a Super is considered a significant threat by military or police forces when hostile. Able to cause significant injury to others, and even kill with ease, it is often said that a C Rank Super is as dangerous as a man with a machine-gun. While the Super is notably dangerous in their own right, they are usually incapable of dealing severe structural damage to buildings or machinery. The Super will also begin to notice that their wounds were healing progressively quicker, and that their body was generally more resilient, agile and strong, though still very much in the range of a normal human being. An example of a C Rank Super would be a Super with control over electricity generating long-range bolts of concentrated lightning, capable of killing with repeated attacks, or severely harming individuals with a single blow.
- B Rank - At B Rank, a Super is considered a 'tangible risk to human life'. While it is by no means illegal for the Super to exist, or even to simply use their power, they are heavily encouraged not to do so in public, so as to not constitute the means for breaking law involving terrorism or a breach of peace. The Super is now marginally stronger than most athletes, as well as generally as agile and durable as an athlete, and their healing complex has accelerated even further, allowing them to heal most non-lethal wounds in a week or less. B Rank Supers can also dish out noticeable structural damage to buildings, structures or machinery. An example of a B Rank Super would be a Super with the ability to manipulate electricity firing concentrated beams or bolts of electricity with genuine kinetic force behind them, damaging walls, concrete or even steel with repeated attacks. These, naturally, are capable of killing civilians with ease.
- A Rank - A Rank is the highest achievable rank by the majority of Supers. It takes an unfathomable amount of continued usage, knowledge and physical aptitude to be able to even achieve this level, and as such, the rank itself is equally as rare, but dangerous in its own right. An A Rank is almost always closely watched by the government, with their every move monitored and tracked to ensure that terrorist activities could not take place, and that if they did, they were quelled as soon as possible. An A Rank is more than capable of destroying a city block or suspension bridge with ease, and killing hundreds of civilians with little effort whatsoever. The Super is now significantly stronger, more agile and durable than any human, and regenerates even grievous wounds in a matter of hours. An example of an A Rank would be an individual with control over Electricity utilising their power to fire a metal projectile, akin to a railgun, at speeds of up to 2300mph, at incredibly high accuracy, with deadly effects. Anything caught in the crossfire would surely be left vaporized.
- S Rank - S Rank, at this time, is purely theoretical. No S Rank has ever been encountered, and some would count their blessings for that. It is currently unknown what limitations, if any, the Super would face for using their abilities, and to what measure their abilities would be able to manifest. It is speculated that an S Rank Super would be nigh-invincible, with powers capable of destroying humanity as we know it. There is currently no known S Rank Super, and as such, it is impossible to gauge the power they may have.
Ranking Up:
To Rank Up, a Super should try to first achieve the recommended post count:
- F Rank to E Rank - 250 Posts (The reason this requirement is so high, is due to unpowereds rarely ever receiving a clandestine rank.)
- E Rank to D Rank - 25 Posts
- D Rank to C Rank - 100 Posts
- C Rank to B Rank - 300 Posts
- B Rank to A Rank - 750 Posts
- A Rank to S Rank - 1250 Posts (Invitation Only)
As you can see, it becomes exponentially more difficult to rank up, due to the huge disparity between rankings at higher levels. To apply for a rank up, simply PM Spades and Warwick with the following:
- Character Name
- Current Rank
- Desired Rank
- Post Count
- Exemplar or Extraordinary Feats your character has performed.
- Events you have participated in.
- How you expect your power to change with a rank up.
